My name is Debby Caven, B.S. & MEIT, and I am a retired educator from the Mequon-Thiensville School District in Mequon, Wisconsin. Presently I am an online Moodle instructor, educational consultant and SMART Certified Trainer. I began my teaching career at the high school level in foreign languages and later became a 6th grade educator in Mequon, Wisconsin. In 1997 I was nominated as Teacher of the Year for the Mequon-Thiensville School District and was nominated for Who’s Who of America’s Teachers. My passion for technology was realized in 2008 when I received my Masters in Educational Instructional Technology from Cardinal Stritch University. Later that year I also obtained my certification from SMART Technologies in Notebook 10 Software. In the summer of 2010 I obtained my online teaching certification from the State of Wisconsin and am presently an adjunct professor for Cardinal Stritch University and Viterbo University. Today I work with teachers to develop online courses through the LMS of Moodle. I also continue to develop workshops for school districts as well as offering presentations at a variety of venues. My presentations have included: “A Journey Beyond Google Earth: Developing Google Lit Trips” at WAMLE in October of 2011. I have also presented at WEMTA in March of 2012 and was honored to be present at ISTE in San Diego in June of 2012. The topic of my ISTE presentation was, “Marzano Meets Medina: Using the SMART Board with Brain Rules”. My ultimate goal is to continue my passion for touching tomorrow through teachers and to realize the seamless integration of 21st Century skills in the classrooms of today.
